A Vision for The National Archives

The National Archives' Vision recognises the importance of information for re-use, for business accountability and for the nation's memory. By working closely with government, the wider public sector and the archival community, we will solve the complex challenges we face.

Our priorities for 2009-2010

This publication - Embracing the future, preserving our past - explains what The National Archives is and what we do, and shows why this work is important. It describes our strategic priorities for this year and demonstrates how they are relevant to our current and recent work, and to our plans for the coming months.

Strategic Plan 2009-2010

Our Strategic Plan expresses our business objectives and targets for the coming year, and our vision for the future.

The two Strategic Plans listed below are no longer current documents. However, you can still access versions for reference in the UK Government Web Archive.

Provide and Enable. The National Archives' Online Strategy

The online strategy will guide decisions about what we provide (and don't provide) online, ensuring that we continue to offer high quality online services that are designed around the needs of users.

Digitisation programme

Our digitisation programme sets out how we plan to achieve our aim to make more of our content available online, the projects that are in development and some of our successes.
